Minatamis na Saging (Sweetened Bananas)

Minatamis na saging is a recipe for sweetened bananas, an ingredient used in other recipes, such as Halo Halo, as a side dessert dish, or a snack.


Minatamis na Saging

Serving Size 4

Cook Time 25 minutes


 

Ingredients

  • 4 large Saba bananas (or plantains)

  • 3/4 cup sugar

  • 1 3/4 cup water

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract


Step 1: Let’s Get Started


Peel the bananas and slice them to ½-inch thickness.


Step 2: Dissolve the sugar


In a saucepan, bring the water to a boil. Lower the heat, then add the sugar. Cook until dissolved.


Step 3: Candy the bananas


Add the bananas and cook until the bananas are soft and the liquid is reduced and thickened. Turn off the heat. Stir in vanilla extract.
